来年の展覧会 千葉奈穂子とアンティ･ユロネンの写真巡回展「Borderlands/Rajamaat (境界地)」の準備をしています

2026年に、欧州文化首都「Oulu 2026」が、フィンランドのオウル市で開催されます。「文化的な気候変動」をテーマに、年間を通して数多くのプロジェクトや展覧会が企画されています。
2026年4月から9月にかけて、フィンランドの写真家でビジュアルアーティストのアンティ・ユロネンさんと私は、フィンランド国内の複数の会場を巡回する写真展「Borderlands/Rajamaat (境界地)」を開催します。10年間にわたる共同制作の成果となりますこの展覧会は、「Oulu 2026」の公式プログラムに選出され、フィンランド北部のイー川沿いの会場を巡回した後、ヘルシンキで最終展示を行います。
2025年8月、私たちは展示の最終確認のため、クーサモタロ・ギャラリー（Kuusamotalo Gallery、クーサモ）、プダスヤルビ・アートギャラリー・タイデカマリ（Pudasjärvi Art gallery Taidekamari、プダスヤルビ）、ヤラヴァ・カウッパ （Historical Trading House, Jalavan kauppa、タイバルコスキ）、パータロ研究所/パータロ・ケスクス（Päätalo Institute, Päätalo-keskus、タイバルコスキ）、ギャラリー・ラテルナ・マギカ（Gallery Laterna Magica、ヘルシンキ）、イーの会場を訪問しました。フィンランドでは、私はイーにありますArtbreak AIRに滞在しました。
今回の渡航にあたり、EU・ジャパンフェスト日本委員会よりモビリティ・サポートをいただきました。心から感謝しています。ご支援のおかげで私は2週間フィンランドに滞在し、来年の展覧会に向けて、各会場の視察や地域の方々との話し合いを行うことができました。
さらに、アンティ・ユロネンさん、研究者・作家・キュレーターのカイサ・ケラターさんに深く感謝しています。お二人が各会場の展示キュレーターやアーティストのみなさんとの貴重な交流の機会をご提供くださったことと、地方のみなさんとの心温まる交流の機会を設けてくださったおかげで、私は来年の展覧会に向けて充実した準備を進めることができ、この地域の歴史や伝統をより深く知ることができました。
フィンランドの地方の歴史や文化について伺う中で、フィンランドと私が暮らす日本の東北地方には､多くの共通点があると感じ、来年展示する写真作品『父の家 My Father’s House』の展示計画がさらに深まりました。本当にありがとうございました！
The European Capital of Culture ‘Oulu 2026’ will be held in Oulu in Finland, next year. Many projects and exhibitions are organised throughout the year under the theme of ‘Cultural Climate Change’.
From 2026 April to September, Antti Ylönen, a Finnish photographer and visual artist, and I will hold the ‘Borderlands/Rajamaat’ working group photography exhibition, touring several venues across Finland.
The upcoming exhibition, showing our 10 years of collaboration, has been nominated an official part of ‘Oulu 2026’ program and will tour the exhibition venues along the Ii River in the north of Finland before concluding in Helsinki.
Last month, we visited the following venues to finalise the exhibition content: Kuusamotalo Gallery (Kuusamo), Pudasjärvi Art gallery Taidekamari (Pudasjärvi), Historical Trading House, Jalavan kauppa (Taivalkoski), Päätalo Institute/Päätalo-keskus (Taivalkoski), Gallery Laterna Magica (Helsinki), and Ii. In Finland, I stayed at Artbreak AIR in Ii.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee for providing me with the mobility support for this trip. Thanks to the support, I was able to spend two weeks in Finland, inspecting venues for next year’s exhibition and holding discussions with local residents.
Furthermore, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Mr. Antti Ylönen, and Ms. Kaisa Kerätär, a researcher, writer and curator. Thanks to their providing precious opportunities to network with exhibition curators and artists, and making heartwarming connections with people in the rural areas, I was able to undertake thorough preparations for next year’s exhibition and get to know the history and traditions of this region more deeply.
While hearing about the history and culture of rural areas in Finland, I feel there are many similarities between Finland and Tōhoku region, the northern part of Japan, where I live, and next year’s plan for exhibiting my photographic works ‘My Father’s House’ has been further deepened.
