2016年、千葉は国際芸術センター青森 （ACAC）のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスと展覧会「普遍的な風景」で、青森の文化財“裂織”を題材にした大判写真作品シリーズ「時の層 Layers of Time」と、映像作品「裂織、生まれ変わる布の命 Sakiori, The Many Lives of Fabric」を発表した。
展覧会では、青森市が所蔵する裂織の労働着 「サグリ」やこたつ掛けとともに、それらが作られてきた青森の現在の風景を手作りのピンホールカメラで多重露光撮影した新作を展示し、手仕事や風景の中に現れる地域の歴史と人々の暮らしを表現した。

At the 2016 artist-in-residence (AIR) and exhibition ‘Ubiquitous Views’, held at the Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (ACAC), Naoko Chiba created works based on sakiori weaving, a cultural property of Aomori, producing the photographic work Layers of Time on large-format film as well as her video work Sakiori, The Many Lives of Fabric.
During the exhibition, she presented a woven kotatsu table cover and saguri—a type of sakiori work clothing—in addition to new photographic works that capture the current landscape of Aomori, where these objects were created. These photographs were all shot through multiple exposures using a handmade pinhole camera, in an attempt to portray the history of the region and the lives of the people as they manifest in these landscapes and this tradition of handicraft.
